Getting to the Root of It: A Healing Balm of Freedom Sunday, January 19, 2025 Joyful Sunday to you! Since the release of Getting To The Root of It in 2018, I’ve witnessed God move in extraordinary ways. Women’s lives have been transformed—healing has taken place, careers have shifted, marriages have blossomed, babies have been born, financial breakthroughs have happened, and broken relationships have been restored. I’ve seen women step out in faith, trusting God for miracles, and then watched those miracles unfold one after another. Honestly, I don’t know why God entrusted me with this writing and publishing this workbook, but every year, more and more people experience freedom and begin walking in the life He has purposed for them. It’s humbling and awe-inspiring. That said, I know this journey isn’t always easy. It may start off strong or feel like smooth sailing, but as you dig deeper and those hidden places get exposed, it can get messy. The layers are pulled back, and you might even feel like walking away. But I urge you—stay the course. The reward is life-changing, and the intimacy you’ll develop with Jesus is beyond what words can capture. Whether you’re in week one, week three, or week seven, the goal remains the same: get to the root of it all and live in abundance every day, even on the hard days. Because even when it’s tough, God is faithful. Here’s today’s devotional: As central Ohio prepared for below-zero temperatures, I did a quick sweep of my house to make sure we were ready. Flashlights? Check. Blankets? Check. Candles and firewood? Check. I even made sure my EV was charged after stocking up on groceries to make chili, chicken noodle soup, and sandwiches. Like so many others around the country, I was doing everything possible to prepare for the forecasted storm. It reminded me of life. The Bible gives us everything we need to live worthy of the calling we’ve received (Ephesians 4:1). But how often do we ignore its wisdom? Life throws its own storms at us—struggles, rejections, pain—and instead of running to the Word, we sometimes retreat. We hide, we isolate, we cover up with layers of avoidance. And yet, the Bible is our manual, and prayer is always available to guide us through. Here are a few practical steps to help us stay the course:
